in the field of digital technologies in the agricultural and food sector (to expand the entrepreneurship and start-up ecosystem in Central Hesse)
The position offered here is, subject to approval, located in the third-party funded project "Digitransfer" at the Chair of Business Administration of the Food Industry and Agribusiness (Prof. Dr. Christian Herzig) in the Food Entrepreneurship & Start-Ups (FESU) at the Department of Agricultural Sciences, Ecotrophology and Environmental Management. If the requirements of the collective agreement are met, remuneration will be in accordance with pay group 13 TV-H.
Subject to the approval of a project financed with European third-party funds (planned start in June/July 2025), JLU plans to establish a transfer-favoring digital infrastructure ("Digital Hub"), which is particularly aimed at supporting founders and those interested in founding a company in the development of digital processes, products, services and business models. The Entrepreneurship Cluster Mittelhessen (ECM), including the "Food Entrepreneurship and Start-Ups" (FESU) coordination office based at the department, is an essential part of JLU's knowledge and technology transfer in order to promote start-ups from within the university and create qualified jobs in the Central Hesse region. The position advertised here supports the development of a digitization toolbox and a digital transfer workshop as well as the piloting to strengthen the existing funding offer in the area of FESU (AI, Design Thinking etc.) at the department and in the research network of the Center for Sustainable Food Systems (ZNE). The department with its FESU position offers ideal starting conditions for the use of sustainability-focused and digital technologies for university spin-offs, e.g. related to AI. In addition, JLU's research network in the Center for Sustainable Food Systems (ZNE) bundles university expertise at all levels of the food system and across departments for socially innovative solution concepts for the design of sustainable food systems.
Your tasks at a glance
- Advising start-up teams or individual coaching sessions in the field of digital technologies in the agricultural and food sector to expand the entrepreneurship and start-up ecosystem in the food sector in Central Hesse
- Supporting start-up teams in the application of digital technologies as part of the Digital Hub
- Development of a digital learning course: "Digital strategies and applications for the sustainability transformation of the agri-food sector"
- Collaboration in the promotion, implementation and dissemination of the "Digitalization Toolbox" and the "Digital Hub" of the JLU at the department (together with ECM)
- Organization of FESU/ZNE digital evenings on ag/food tech (such as smart farming, crowd farming, regenerative farming systems, AI in prototype testing, open source seed banks, collaborative entrepreneurship, alternative protein feed technologies, etc.)
Your Qualifications And Skills
- Completed university degree in computer science, data science, digital entrepreneurship, agricultural informatics or food technology (preferably with a focus on AI, visual data or business informatics), or similar courses of study or specializations
- Knowledge of the agriculture and food industry, (female) entrepreneurship, human-centered design thinking and/or digital data is desirable
- Affinity for digital technologies
- High communication and teamwork skills
- Independent, structured and careful way of working
- Good written and spoken German and English skills
