We are looking for a Technical Writer to join our team full-time in our Steisslingen, Germany office. The successful candidate will produce high quality customer-facing documentation by following our internal quality management process for reviews, revisions, and publication. As part of a larger technical communications group, you will use single-sourcing methodologies to create digital, interactive, and print documentation.

Responsibilities:

  1. Draft, update, and/or release user, software, installation, and service manuals, FRU and upgrade procedures, quick start guides, operation method sheets, and spare parts lists in MadCap Flare XML editor.
  2. Maintain company documentation standards and write to the company style guide.
  3. Collaborate with engineers on subject-matter and attend design reviews.
  4. Use CAD models to investigate key functions of Brooks products and draft procedural steps.
  5. Collaborate weekly with other technical writers across the globe.

Qualifications:

  1. 2-3 years of technical writing experience, preferably in hardware documentation.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as English, Journalism, or Technical Writing, or a certificate and/or minor in IT or Professional Writing/Technical Communications.
  3. Experience with MadCap Flare and structured XML.
  4. Able to understand target audiences with the ability to create and develop content in effective ways.
  5. Eagerness to interact with engineering models using Pro-Engineering, Solidworks, and Autodesk to help with the creation of documentation and training materials.
  6. Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally to other company offices to document off-site products when needed.
  7. Willingness to pivot between multiple projects with effective project management skills.
  8. Team oriented and a great collaborator within a medium sized writing group.
  9. Experience with Microsoft Word.
  10. Familiar with Adobe Creative Cloud (specifically Adobe Acrobat).
  11. Fluent in English and German.

Not required, but useful skills:

• MadCap Lingo (for translations)
