Job Description

The EUMETSAT Mission Planning System (MPS) is a critical asset for the operations of Earth Observation missions within the Ground Segment. The Mission Planning Software Engineer will join a dynamic international team responsible for a broad spectrum of Mission Operations Applications. The successful candidate will ensure the evolution and maintenance of the MPS components for LEO and GEO space missions, whether in development or already in orbit. Collaboration with Flight Control Teams will provide valuable insights into the end-use of these systems.

Responsibilities

  • Define, develop, maintain, and evolve scalable, reliable software solutions aligned with mission control roadmaps.
  • Work closely with stakeholders, including end-users and cross-functional teams, to support the development and maintenance of mission planning software.
  • Manage procurements of industrial service and development contracts.
  • Identify opportunities for optimization and promote innovation by staying updated with industry trends and emerging technologies.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Five years’ experience in developing or maintaining large-scale software systems in high-availability environments.
  • Experience with software lifecycle management, modern technologies (web, cloud, containers), architectures (microservices), and practices (DevSecOps).

Languages

Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of French is advantageous.

Skills and Experience

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to synthesize and present complex problems and solutions effectively.
  • Knowledge of mission control functions, especially in Earth observation missions, is a plus.

Additional Information

The initial contract is for 4 years, with potential for renewal. The position offers a competitive salary starting at approximately EURO 7,000 per month, plus attractive benefits.
