Deputy Head / Head of Automation - PtX / Green Hydrogen

A respected German Engineering business with a head office in North Rhine-Westphalia and additional international offices that is continuing to build out its existing PtX / Green Hydrogen team.

The Role

You will work closely with the current Head of Automation with a succession plan in place to take over that role in 12 months time. You work will be essential to ensure the integration automation technology across development, production and operations. You will also mentor more junior members of the automation team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of automation systems electrolysers.
• Coordinate automation-related activities between internal teams and external partners, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
• Act as a bridge between global automation efforts ensuring the successful localization of automation strategies.
• Support knowledge transfer, training, and technical exchange.
• Contribute to the overall strategy for automation.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in automation technologies, identifying opportunities to enhance system performance and competitiveness.
• Ensure all automation systems comply with relevant safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
• Establish robust testing, validation, and monitoring protocols to guarantee system reliability and performance
• 7+ years of automation experience
• PLC expert
• Expertise in automation system integration, modularization, and process optimization
• Ideally a hydrogen / PtX / electrolyser background. Other similar process industries may be considered for exceptional candidates.
• A real 'people person'; this role requires excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
• Full professional German & English.
