Let's connect: If you want to experience how things are done in the Run Off Solutions team at our headquarters in Hanover, Germany, join us on a temporary basis for 29 months, starting as soon as possible as an Economist Run Off Management.

Our team, which reports directly to the Executive Board, focuses exclusively on the run-off of Hannover Re Group's reinsurance contract portfolios - the legacy business - and how this can be best organized for the mutual benefit of our customers and Hannover Re Group entities. Using sophisticated strategies and targeted measures to manage these legacy portfolios, we aim to reduce liability risk, optimize the utilization of loss reserves, recycle tied-up capital into new opportunities, and reduce costs. Our team also serves as the Centre of Competence for run-off management across the entire Hannover Re Group worldwide.

You can look forward to

  • Structuring and negotiation of commutations
  • Collecting outstanding receivables, including through commutations or setoffs
  • Reserving reduction and contract closure
  • Filing claims in formal proceedings such as insolvencies
  • Contributing to the design of run-off concepts, strategies, work tools, guidelines, processes, and reporting

You come equipped with

  • University degree or equivalent in business administration, economics, business law, or law
  • Ideally several years of experience in primary insurance or reinsurance
  • Strong understanding of numbers, analytical thinking, and a precise, structured working style
  • Proficiency in standard software applications and willingness to learn data warehouse applications and analytics systems (including Bl, SAP FS-RI)
  • IT affinity and experience in run-off management activities, particularly commutations, are advantageous
  • Strong negotiating skills and experience working in self-organized teams
  • Fluent German and English language skills
