Job Opportunity: Development Chef (Germany – River Cruise Sector)

Location: Grenzach, Germany (with travel up to 30%)

We are seeking a Development Chef to drive innovation and excellence in our onboard culinary offerings. About the Role

As a Development Chef, you will be a key part of the F&B team, responsible for evolving and refining our culinary offerings to ensure exceptional quality, consistency, and guest experience. Working from a dedicated development kitchen in Grenzach, Germany, you will play a pivotal role in researching, testing, and implementing new recipes and products, while also engaging directly with onboard operations.

Culinary Innovation: Develop new recipes and dishes that align with our overall culinary strategy.

Product & Equipment Testing: Conduct tastings, product evaluations, and equipment assessments to ensure operational feasibility and excellence.

Industry Collaboration: Work closely with purchasing teams, industry partners, and stakeholders to source and review ingredients and equipment.

Onboard Engagement: Visit vessels regularly to gain insights into operations, gather feedback, and drive continuous improvement.

Training & Documentation: Assist in creating engaging training materials, including recipe videos and dish presentations.

Event Coordination: Organize tastings, workshops, and events to showcase new culinary concepts.

Operational Oversight: Ensure compliance with all regulations, manage the development kitchen efficiently, and support special projects as needed.

Key Qualifications

  • Strong passion for culinary arts, food trends, and product innovation.
  • Creative mindset with a solution-driven and proactive approach.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across multiple teams.
  • Comfortable engaging with senior executives and hosting tastings or workshops.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to document and report on findings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Fluent in English (additional languages are a plus).
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant culinary education or equivalent work experience.
  • Prior experience in the cruise or hospitality industry is a plus.
