Welcome to the Audi F1 Project

Audi will compete in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship from 2026.

The new team has three locations: the Audi Motorsport Competence Center in Neuburg (Germany), one of the most modern of its kind in Europe; the Sauber Group's Formula 1 Factory in Hinwil (Switzerland), known for its innovative technologies; and the Sauber Motorsport Technology Center in the United Kingdom, starting operations this year. Our power unit is developed in Neuburg, while Hinwil handles chassis development and race operations.

Position Details

This position for the Audi F1 Project is available at Audi Formula Racing GmbH in Neuburg, Germany.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a state-of-the-art full-vehicle simulation to optimize lap time performance and energy management.
  • Continuously develop the simulation/optimization framework, implementing user requirements and integrating complex vehicle and drive models.
  • Identify and implement measures to improve the convergence and robustness of the optimization.
  • Research, evaluate, and implement numerical solution methods from the literature.
  • Support concept analyses for system design compliant with F1 2026 PU regulations.
  • Work independently and collaboratively with colleagues in model and software development.

Candidate Profile

  • Completed technical or scientific studies or a doctorate in engineering, mathematics, computer science, or similar.
  • Several years of professional experience in numerical optimization.
  • Advanced knowledge of optimal control or model predictive control.
  • Good understanding of linear algebra, analysis, dynamic systems, and differential equations.
  • Knowledge of lap time simulation and vehicle modeling.
  • Extensive programming experience in Matlab, Python, or C++.
  • Experience with agile software development and versioning tools like Git/SVN is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical, systemic, and independent working skills, with excellent teamwork abilities.
  • Willingness to learn basic knowledge of the other language (German or English).
