This leadership opportunity offers the chance to lead our Business Development teams in Berlin, Istanbul, and Milan. It’s ideal for those passionate about growing New Zealand companies, leveraging commercial expertise, and driving new opportunities. NZTE works with innovative companies, supporting their growth internationally from 37 offices across 24 time zones and 40 languages, in over 100 countries.

Based at the New Zealand Embassy in Berlin, this role provides strategic leadership to support New Zealand companies in Europe, focusing on Germany, Türkiye, Italy, Sweden, and Denmark. The role involves guiding businesses through market entry, growth strategies, and partnerships to ensure success.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Travel regularly to build relationships, support businesses, and stay informed on local market dynamics.
• Assist New Zealand companies in growing within Europe’s evolving economies, especially under the NZ-EU FTA.
• Lead an experienced team of market experts, driving business development and providing strategic insights.
• Foster remote collaboration across locations, ensuring a high-performing team approach.
• Work closely with Customer Managers in New Zealand and contribute to broader organizational goals.
• Represent New Zealand at key events and manage multiple projects, collaborating with NZTE and NZ Inc partners.

What You’ll Need To Be Successful

• Strong leadership skills with experience in inspiring diverse teams across cultures and flexible work setups.
• Background in business development, marketing, sales, or strategy, with an interest in Europe’s commercial environment.
• Agility, strategic thinking, and resilience to navigate complex markets and deliver results.
• Experience in engaging with companies at board level and influencing key stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
• Existing networks within target markets are advantageous, but a commercial mindset and perseverance are essential.
