Thesis: Development of a ROS Broker Integration of Multimodal Inputs for LLM-Controlled Robotics

Project Overview

Fraunhofer IGCV, Bavaria's first production engineering institute, is seeking master's students to contribute to advancing efficient engineering, connected production, and multimaterial solutions, primarily serving clients in mechanical engineering, aerospace, and automotive sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a ROS2-based communication broker to connect multimodal inputs (voice, touch, buttons).
  • Develop ROS nodes and interfaces to connect an LLM-based control core via REST API.
  • Test and evaluate the system using a robotics demonstrator in simulation or real environments.

Qualifications

  • Studies in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, electrical engineering, computer science, or related fields.
  • Preferred experience with ROS/ROS2.
  • Proficiency in Python or C++.
  • Reliable, independent working style.
