The following 65% part-time position is to be filled as soon as possible in the research group Neurohomeostasis, Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy of the University Hospital Bonn:

PhD Candidate (m/f/d)

Due to third-party funding (Volkswagen Foundation), the position is limited to 3 years.

Our research focuses on understanding the links between stress, proteostasis, and cellular function, aiming to identify therapeutic targets for neuropsychiatric disorders. We take a multidisciplinary and translational approach, combining cell models, animal experiments, and human studies with protein biochemistry, pharmacology, and multi-omics techniques. The project challenges traditional views of depression by investigating peripheral mood engrams, including metabolomic and proteomic changes outside the brain and plasma transfer experiments.

Tasks:

• Conduct experimental research using molecular and cellular biology techniques
• Analyze and interpret biological data
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and present findings
• Contribute to publications and conferences
• Assist in teaching and mentoring students

Requirements:

• Master’s degree in Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry, or related fields
• Experience with protein biochemistry, autophagy, metabolomics
• Interest in proteomics, metabolomics, computational data analysis
• Motivated, curious, team-oriented
• Fluent in English
