Job Title: Group Accountant

Global Accounting Network has partnered with a well-established Energy Business to offer an exciting opportunity for a talented Group Accountant to join their finance team. This role involves:

  1. Preparing annual, quarterly, and monthly financial statements for the group, including notes and management reports, ensuring quality and timeliness.
  2. Reviewing and validating reporting data for accuracy and completeness, making necessary consolidation entries.
  3. Delivering high-quality reporting to shareholders and other stakeholders.
  4. Overseeing financial instrument and hedge accounting disclosures.
  5. Managing reporting requests and requirements from internal teams and auditors.
  6. Handling the accounting of M&A projects within the consolidated financial statements.
  7. Developing and maintaining corporate guidelines and ensuring compliance with IFRS updates.
  8. Providing training and updates on group accounting policies to subsidiaries and internal units.
  9. Enhancing and maintaining financial consolidation software and reporting automation processes.
  10. Conducting training sessions on specialized topics related to group accounting.

Skills and Experience Required:

  1. University degree in Finance, Accounting, Controlling, or a related field.
  2. Several years of experience in a Big 4 audit firm, specializing in energy businesses, large-scale international companies, or financial instruments and hedge accounting under IFRS 9.
  3. Excellent knowledge of IFRS, including business segments, consolidation, and group accounting.
  4. Strong understanding of business processes and controls, with the ability to analyze and optimize processes.
  5. Proficiency in accounting software such as SAP/ERP (S/4 HANA) and Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  6. Highly motivated, independent, and proactive individual with strong analytical skills and a team-oriented mindset.
  7. Excellent communication skills and experience working with diverse stakeholders.
  8. Fluency in both German and English is essential.
