Network Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer to oversee and enhance our network infrastructure. The role involves managing Cisco and Palo Alto-based environments, including LAN, WAN, and Wireless networks. The candidate will collaborate with vendors, lead installation and expansion projects, and ensure optimal network performance.

1. Design, implement, and manage Cisco and Palo Alto network environments, ensuring seamless integration and performance.
2. Lead installation and expansion of network systems for new facilities, including testing, troubleshooting, and documentation.
3. Develop procedures for hardware and software integration and propose strategies to maintain and improve service levels.
4. Monitor network performance, generate reports, and implement corrective actions.
5. Provide rapid troubleshooting during outages and resolve incidents reported via management tools.
6. Test and upgrade network device software to ensure reliability.
7. Review capacity reports and identify opportunities for network improvements.
8. Advise on network migrations and security enhancements.
9. Coordinate with third-party vendors and telecom providers for incident resolution.
10. Maintain comprehensive network documentation and recommend improvements to management tools and configurations.
11. Analyze data for reporting accuracy and stay updated on vendor solutions.

Skills and Experience

• Minimum 5 years in networking, with expertise in Cisco, Fortinet, and Palo Alto technologies.
• Experience in ITIL environments, with knowledge of Incident, Change, and Problem Management.
• Proven experience managing complex Cisco and Fortinet environments, including Routing & SD-WAN, Switching, Wireless, Firewalls, and related tools.
• Expertise in routing protocols like OSPF, BGP, and VRRP.
• Hands-on experience with Wireshark and capacity management.
• Strong documentation skills using MS Word and MS Visio.
• Proficiency with Meraki Wireless, Firewalls, SD-WAN, Cisco ACI, and enterprise products.
• Ability to interpret and optimize wireless site survey reports.
• Technical certifications such as Cisco CCNP/CCIE, Fortinet NSE 6+, F5 Certified, Meraki Certified Network Operator, or equivalent.
• Fluent German language skills.
• Familiarity with ITIL V3 framework and best practices.
