Job ID: 10694

We are UKM, committed to a social mission with a focus on healthcare, research, and teaching. We seek your scientific expertise in the Sánchez Lab at the European Institute for Molecular Imaging, where we study how receptors sense and respond to their environment, focusing on the undervalued plexin receptor family involved in neuronal development, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, and kidney systems, immune responses, and cancer. This position is funded by an Emmy Noether DFG grant and aims to combine single-molecule localization methods and cell biology to study plexin receptors in living cells.

The European Institute for Molecular Imaging (EIMI) is part of the University of Münster, developing imaging methods to visualize molecular processes, with research spanning vascular, inflammatory, infectious, neurodegenerative diseases, and cancer. Located within the Multiscale Imaging Center (MIC), EIMI hosts research groups using advanced imaging technologies for biomedical research.

Your Tasks

  1. Generate fusion constructs of plexin receptors with fluorescent proteins or tags for advanced microscopy.
  2. Perform live-cell imaging experiments and analyze data.
  3. Collaborate with team members in advanced microscopy and super-resolution techniques.
  4. Develop and enhance leadership skills and supervise students.

What We Expect

  • PhD in life sciences.
  • Interest in single molecule localization microscopy methods.
  • Experience in cell and molecular biology, with cloning expertise highly desired.
  • Broad experimental and analytical interests, contributing to method development and application.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; German is a plus.
  • Willingness to work in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Proven experience with advanced microscopy techniques such as confocal, TIRF, FRET, STORM, DNA-PAINT is desired.

What We Offer

  • Career development in a multidisciplinary, committed research team with mentorship and teamwork.
  • Work-life balance; Münster offers a high quality of life.
  • Modern infrastructure and an international, collaborative research environment.
