Job Description

You will be the Lead Buyer for dedicated and assigned commodities on Grid Solutions GSI Substation Business. The Commodity Buyer is responsible for the performance of the associated suppliers from tendering stage (ITO) to execution (OTR). She/He addresses customer-specific requirements for each project while assuring best practices, sharing continuous improvement among other commodity buyers. She/He also supports the existing Sourcing team for the purchase of other materials and services needed for our projects.

We are looking for employees in the following locations: Berlin, Dresden, Salzbergen (Germany), or Rijswijk (the Netherlands).

Roles and Tasks

  1. Define supplier strategy including management and optimization of supplier panels.
  2. Actively communicate with suppliers to improve pricing, lead times, and payment terms.
  3. Prepare and launch RFQs, negotiate contracts in coordination with internal stakeholders, and transmit information to Procurement.
  4. Prioritize contract (re)negotiation, gather information, and conduct discussions to accelerate contract agreements in OTR.
  5. Streamline the onboarding process based on supplier market constraints and assess Product Line risk during onboarding.
  6. Assess supplier performance to manage ongoing contract execution and influence strategic positioning for future deals.
  7. Map the supplier market based on capabilities, business interests, past performance, and geographical area for each segment.
  8. Share market evolutions, key indexes, and best practices within the team and across other GE organizations, including templates and checklists.
  9. Note: Scope and responsibilities may evolve depending on the context and the candidate's profile.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Expertise in Project Contract Management, Engineering, or Strategic Sourcing.
  • Minimum of 3 years of working experience.
  • Strong communication skills in both German (B1 level required) and English.
  • Proficiency in Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to work in a global environment.
  • Hybrid Office Model accepted.
