Senior Software Engineer Infrastructure (m/f/d)

Job Description

We're looking for an experienced software engineer to lead the infrastructure efforts of secunet's Software Factory.

Travel: Involves occasional travel

The Software Factory is secunet's innovation program, designed to provide the technical means to develop entirely new product classes. It consists of a team of highly motivated software engineers focused on cutting-edge, security-focused shared components, and a DevSecOps platform that supports the entire lifecycle of our products. This is a dynamic and evolving team, offering exciting challenges and opportunities for growth.

This position combines both software and systems engineering to build and run IT infrastructure. You will monitor the capacity and performance of our systems, ensuring reliable operation and appropriate uptime. We value fast, incremental improvements. Your efforts will focus on building infrastructure, optimizing systems, and automating processes to eliminate work.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, extend, and improve our infrastructure continuously
• Ensure comprehensive observability across all services (visualization, alerting, log aggregation)
• Design, build, and manage Nix build infrastructure
• Coordinate with internal teams and external partners
• Align strategies with secunet's internal IT
• Document your work for users and fellow developers
• Ensure security of services using modern technologies

Qualifications

• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• Experience in architecting and operating on-premises deployments
• Extensive experience with the NixOS ecosystem
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform)
• Proven open source contributions
• Programming experience in Rust, Python, Go, or similar
• Ability to work autonomously and coordinate with broader teams

Bonus points

• Familiarity with the German language is an advantage but not required
