Our client, a renowned player in the European beverage industry, is home to a broad portfolio of iconic brands and innovative product lines. As they continue to expand and modernise their operations, they are seeking a Lead Project Engineer to lead the technical operations of their packaging plant in Germany. This is a leadership role for someone ready to drive performance, lead a team, and play a hands-on role in optimising production and implementing new product lines.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of two technical specialists, fostering collaboration and continuous development
  • Assign tasks, provide technical guidance, and support team training
  • Conduct performance reviews and support team growth

Maintenance Management

  • Develop and execute preventative and predictive maintenance strategies to ensure high equipment uptime
  • Oversee maintenance tasks in line with safety and quality standards
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and manage spare parts procurement

Process Improvement & Project Execution

  • Lead initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and productivity in bottling operations
  • Drive capital projects including equipment upgrades and expansion efforts
  • Explore and implement automation technologies and process innovations
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions

New Product Line Integration

  • Oversee the technical setup and commissioning of new product lines
  • Develop SOPs, conduct trial runs, and validate process parameters for quality assurance

Performance & Compliance Monitoring

  • Define and track KPIs around production efficiency, equipment uptime, and maintenance
  • Use data analysis to identify improvement opportunities and drive equipment effectiveness (OEE)
  • Ensure all operations comply with industry regulations and internal policies

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

  • Maintain a safe working environment and ensure adherence to company safety protocols

Profile

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • At least 5 years' experience in a technical leadership role in bottling, ideally in the beverage or alcohol industry
  • In-depth knowledge of bottling equipment and production systems
  • Proven track record in implementing maintenance plans and continuous improvement projects
  • Experience setting up new product lines and optimising manufacturing processes
  • Proficient in data analysis for performance tracking and problem-solving
  • Familiarity with PLCs and automation systems
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making abilities
  • Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and standards
