HVDC Offshore projects are crucial for strengthening Europe's energy security and positioning Europe as the world's first climate-neutral continent by 2050. The GE consortium projects include offshore converter platforms and onshore converter stations for bidirectional conversion between AC and DC. These stations utilize bipolar Voltage Sourced Converter (VSC) technology, the most advanced HVDC technology, offering double the capacity of previous monopole systems, reducing the number of cables and platforms required.

Job Description

The Role

The role involves ensuring that offshore platform designs meet HVDC system requirements, incorporating certification processes and safety-by-design principles during development. It also requires addressing clashes, constraints, and challenges through holistic multidisciplinary considerations.

This position demands technical expertise, offshore design cycle knowledge, appreciation for HVDC systems, and strong leadership and communication skills.

1. Expert knowledge of offshore platform regulations (e.g., DNVGL-ST-0145)
2. Experience with offshore certification bodies
3. Experience with Marine Warranty Surveyor agencies
4. Expertise in stressed skin platform design
5. Experience managing Transport & Installation (T&I) constraints
6. Evaluation of seafastening and full project lifecycle considerations
7. Ability to influence large stakeholder groups effectively
8. Ensure design effectiveness for delivery and optimize costs across the consortium
9. Consider sustainability aspects in design processes
10. Analytical mindset with rigor and commitment
11. Professional proficiency in English, both verbal and written

1. 10+ years in offshore platform or naval engineering activities
2. Experience leading multi-stakeholder solutions
3. Skilled in identifying and mitigating technical risks in projects
4. Global experience with high cultural competence and sensitivity
5. Strong influencing and relationship-building skills across cultures
6. Excellent presentation skills and ability to communicate complex messages succinctly
7. Willingness to work at various locations temporarily and travel worldwide
