A PhD position is available in the group of Dr. Tim Aberle at the Institute of Biochemistry (Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg), starting September 2025.
We are working on the extrinsic and intrinsic regulation of the myelination process in the central nervous system, where defects in oligodendrocyte development can lead to diseases such as multiple sclerosis or epilepsy. This project will analyze the role of G-protein coupled receptors and calcium signals during myelination using histological, molecular biology, biochemical, and high throughput sequencing techniques. Analyses involve primary cell culture, organotypic brain cultures, or transgenic/knockout mouse models.
