IT Support Engineer

Overview

Efficiently functioning IT systems ensure that Amazon's operations run at peak speed at all times. Our IT Support Team works behind the scenes to resolve issues and improve our systems for optimal performance. Your focus will be to ensure that our IT infrastructure meets the demands of our global business. You will work with the latest technology and learn how we develop the warehouse environment of the future. This position is initially advertised as part-time, with the possibility of full-time employment.

Key job responsibilities

Your main tasks include:

  • Supporting end-user devices and IT infrastructure within your building
  • Assisting with major network projects, such as setting up IT for new Amazon buildings
  • Proposing new processes to enhance IT deployment at Amazon logistics centers
  • Mentoring and supporting colleagues

A day in the life

You will work onsite and visit other operational sites in Germany and possibly internationally several times a month. As part of our IT Support Team, you will collaborate remotely and in person, assisting with various issues. You will leverage your expertise to ensure the optimal operation of our platforms and implement projects to maintain or improve our IT infrastructure. Occasionally, you may help design infrastructure for new buildings and ensure smooth operation during setup. No two days are the same at Amazon, making this an exciting workplace. Your role involves a variety of tasks, from troubleshooting IT issues to designing new processes. About the team

Our OpsTech Solutions Team (OTS) provides ongoing tech support across all Amazon operational sites worldwide. Maintaining, upgrading, and protecting the IT infrastructure and end-user devices of one of the world's largest companies requires diverse skills. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Basic qualifications include:

  • A degree in computer science or a related technical field
  • Experience managing heterogeneous networks with Microsoft Windows and Linux-based clients and servers
  • Experience with network infrastructure, system integration, and working with third-party vendors
  • Advanced proficiency in English and German, both spoken and written
  • A valid driver's license

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Additional industry certifications such as ITIL, Cisco (CCNA, CCNP), Microsoft (MCP, MCSE), or Linux (LPIC-1, LPIC-2)
  • Experience with diagnostics and troubleshooting
  • Experience working in a dynamic, customer-focused environment
  • Knowledge of common network and internet protocols, including management, communication, and security protocols
  • Experience with IT asset management, procurement, or WLAN technologies
