About The Role
Responsible for timely and accurate completion of all statutory and tax reporting and filings for the entities. Responsible for driving continuous improvement of the overall Compliance and Controllership activities for the sites. Must have a thorough knowledge of accounting and finance principles including practices and procedures related to internal and external audit functions, German and US GAAP. Relies on experience, expertise, and judgement to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks and works independently.

Location: Hamburg Metropolitan Region

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial results in accordance with GAAP through periodic balance sheet reviews, communication of current issues, and sharing best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with local laws, regulations, and company policies, including US GAAP, German GAAP, and IFRS.
  • Manage internal and external audits proactively and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Handle local reporting requirements, including statutory reports and tax filings, collaborating with local partners as needed.
  • Coordinate with the Shared Services Center on month-end closing activities, including trial balance review, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
  • Support project controls group with accounting and analysis for large projects.
  • Assist initiatives to improve working capital.
  • Champion compliance oversight and drive improvements in the control environment and compliance processes.
  • Stay informed about relevant laws and regulations through professional resources and internal counsel.

Requirements

  • 5-8 years of experience in Controllership or Accounting within a global manufacturing company reporting in US GAAP.
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of German GAAP, IFRS, US GAAP, and German tax filings.
  • Fluent in German and English.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, matrix environment.
  • Excellent IT skills, with experience in finance systems (SAP preferred).
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
