About This Role

Excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual to assume the role of senior associate supporting German tax matters within the Tax organization. This individual will be responsible for various German tax compliance, reporting and controversy matters for Carrier’s scope of business in Germany.

The organization offers an opportunity to be part of a growing tax department in the region.

This role reports into the Senior Manager, EMEA Tax based in Germany.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and validate federal and municipal tax assessment notices and track corresponding deadlines and tax payments.
  • Review corporate income tax and trade tax returns prepared by an external party for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist with managing ongoing tax audits including liaising with the finance organization for data collection, organization and submission to the tax authorities.
  • Assist with various tax filings related to withholding tax, RETT, or other local taxes and levies.
  • Support Carrier Tax Reporting team with advice over the ASC 740 quarterly and year-end tax reporting (U.S. tax reporting) for the German scope of business, including providing advice on provision-to-return computations and the German tax treatment of current and deferred tax computations; assist and support data collection and review of information required for tax reporting.
  • Research and advise the business on day-to-day tax matters as requested.
  • Identify opportunities and assist in continuous improvement of tax processes.

Job responsibilities subject to change based upon the needs within the organization.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or tax-related discipline.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in either a large corporation or corporate tax or accounting firm environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced tax or law degree (e.g. master’s degree).
  • Experience working in a multinational organization or U.S.-headquartered organization.
  • Operative understanding of tax compliance and reporting cycle.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to research tax topics and apply them to the business.
  • Basic understanding of tax systems capabilities.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in German and English.
