Optical Stack Application Engineer

Key Objectives

  • Design and analyze the optical stack for displays, including cover lenses, optical films, coatings, and integration with touch sensors and displays.
  • Act as an expert for the display optical stack, leading technical discussions internally and with customers, supporting procurement and quality departments.
  • Analyze customer requirements, design solutions, discuss deviations, and track suppliers.
  • Support the development of new suppliers and technologies to advance optical materials and treatments.
  • Perform laboratory measurements related to optical performance, such as reflection, color, and surface energy.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

Mandatory

  • Bachelor's degree in Physics, Optics, Material Science with an optics focus; Master's preferred.
  • Several years of experience in optical applications or metrology.
  • Strong knowledge of optics (linear geometric optics) and industrial production processes for optical components.
  • Design experience in areas like LCDs, OLEDs, touch sensors, or automotive glass and plastics.
  • Experience with optical films and coatings (AR, AG, polarizers, retarders).

Preferred

  • Optical component design and manufacturing.
  • Thin film coatings and manufacturing processes.
  • Optical bonding technologies and structural bonding experience.
  • High initiative, independence, resilience.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and German.
