Business Development Engineer Cybersecurity and IIoT (m/f/d)

Based in Frankfurt, Germany and reporting to the Manager New Business EMEA, the Business Development Engineer will primarily be responsible for assisting FM Approvals to expand the availability of FM Approved products in selected categories.

This is a newly created role and requires an industrial automation sales engineering background or relatable technical discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Development and execution of new business plans and sales of the FM Approvals certification services for OT and IIoT cybersecurity as well as industrial condition monitoring systems.
  • Leading the technical sales solutions for the testing and certification of cyber security and condition monitoring solutions from FM Approvals.
  • Identifying prospects through various channels, including conference presentations, participation in trade shows, associations, market education and influencing activities.
  • Analyzing existing customer as well as new customer base and expand or startup development of certification solutions for the customer.
  • Identifying key accounts for cybersecurity and condition monitoring systems.
  • Build and maintain working relationships with team members, customers, and member companies within Europe and other regions.
  • Support the development of steady improvements of sales processes and tools.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with European and national member state authorities, trade associations and standardization committees.
  • This role will require regular travel within Germany and other countries in Europe as well as occasionally other countries worldwide. Expected overnight travel is 30% - 50%.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree, preferably electrical engineering or equivalent
  • Working knowledge and understanding of a range of automation systems, PLCs, Motion controllers, Drives, Industrial PCs and distributed I/O
  • Persuasiveness and selling skills in combination with a customer centric mindset
  • Sales background in the industrial space would be a plus
  • Project or product management experience is a plus
  • Fluent in German and English and excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license
