What you’ll do

As an Engineer in the Gardener Landscape Stability Team, you will function as both a DevOps Engineer and Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), playing a key role in maintaining and improving the stability and performance of our Kubernetes landscapes. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement best practices, automate processes, and ensure the reliability of our systems.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with development teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of new features and updates.
  • Monitoring system performance and implementing improvements to enhance stability and cost efficiency.
  • Automating routine tasks to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual intervention, as well as improving mechanisms for landscape setups.
  • Serving as a technical expert during incidents, investigating and resolving issues at a deep technical level.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues and participating in support rotations for critical systems.
  • Learning new technologies and keeping up to date with the latest product releases.

What you bring:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Understanding Kubernetes is essential.
  • Experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar role, with a strong understanding of Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies.
  • Proficiency in automation, scripting, and programming languages like Python, Bash, or Go.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or OpenStack.
  • Knowledge of tools such as Concourse, Argo CD, GitHub & GitHub Actions, Grafana, Prometheus, Prow is a plus.
  • Networking experience, Linux skills, and security hardening procedures are advantageous.
  • Enthusiasm for automation and software development in general.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Proficiency in German is a bonus.
  • A passion for learning and a desire to stay current with industry trends.
