Serco has made significant contributions at ESA's European Space Operations Centre (ESOC) in Darmstadt, supporting a wide range of space missions and projects. On behalf of our client, ESOC, we are looking for a skilled Automation / Continual Improvement Officer to join our team distributed over the ESOC site, in Germany.

Main Responsibilities

As Automation / Continual Improvement Officer, you will focus on the following:

  • Coordinate and promote the use of automation across NOC services.
  • Support the Service Manager in driving the evolution of the service in line with the Agency’s changing needs.
  • Review existing processes, identify automation use cases for service improvement.
  • Design and implement automated processes into operation.
  • Integrate automation tools within NOC services.
  • Collaborate with Service Delivery Managers and support groups for project implementation.
  • Participate in user meetings, briefings, and workshops as required.
  • Stay updated on latest trends, automation technologies, and best practices.
  • Provide regular and on-demand reporting and statistics.
  • Act as an interface to the customer.

Successful Candidate

If you believe you are the right fit, you should have:

  • A solid background in IT / Operational support.
  • Experience working in an international environment is a plus.

Desirable Experience and Education

  • Knowledge of ITIL processes in IT Service Management.
  • Experience in project management (Prince2, PMP, Six Sigma certifications preferred).
  • Knowledge of automation tools and their capabilities.
  • Understanding of networking, virtualization, and OS concepts.
  • Fluent in English, with effective communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently.
  • Proactive, confident, with good persuasive skills.
  • Team-player, able to interface with technical and management personnel.
  • Well-organized, capable of managing multiple tasks.
  • Ability to write and present documentation and training materials.
  • Experience in team coordination and supervision.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and ITSM tools.
