Head of Consumer Technical Insights - Midea European Research Center
The Head of Consumer Technical Insights at Midea European Research Center will be responsible for monitoring European market trends, conducting consumer research on cross-category products and concepts, and drawing consumer insights from various sources to guide consumer-centric product development. This role involves participating in decision-making and supporting R&D activities to ensure new concepts and products resonate with consumers and succeed in the marketplace. Additionally, the head will investigate new methods, technologies, and processes to uncover unmet customer needs, translating these into product innovation ideas to expand Midea's product portfolio. The role also includes interacting with the global Midea consumer insights and marketing community.
Main Responsibilities:
- Lead product and consumer research through targeted surveys and interviews to validate innovative appliance solutions and ideas.
- Monitor and analyze EU market trends for Midea's product portfolio.
- Research and understand the market landscape and competitors to define products and features.
- Act as a liaison between the EU Marketing team, R&D team in China, Customer & Market Insight team, and global home appliance divisions.
- Identify potential consumer needs proactively and lead innovation sessions with internal R&D teams.
- Collaborate closely with R&D, Engineering, Marketing, and Sales teams to enhance product launch success and roadmap development.
- Research emerging trends, product features, and devices to improve user experience, gathering insights through consumer surveys and feedback to guide product development.
- Establish internal procedures and best practices for analyzing consumer insights data.
- Introduce Voice of the Customer (VOC) into the product development process.
Your Profile:
- Minimum of 5 years experience in consumer insights within the home appliances sector in the EU market, preferably with a background in market research or consumer insights firms.
- Deep familiarity with European markets and expertise in both quantitative and qualitative research, including conducting/moderating consumer interviews.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and translating VOC into innovative products.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of leading projects across organizational levels.
- Experience working with multicultural, remote teams.
- Goal-oriented, creative, resourceful, and entrepreneurial mindset.
- Strong coaching skills.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken); German or Chinese skills are a plus.
