Risk Manager (Energy Modelling & Simulation) in Trading (m/f/d)

Responsibilities

  • Understand the nature of conventional linear products in the energy sector (e.g., forward base) and basics of financial options. Evaluate the worth of standard options (put, call, etc.) and their combinations (e.g., collar).
  • Identify, evaluate, and report risks resulting from trading activities of flexible assets across European electricity markets.
  • Monitor, assess, and track market risks such as price, volume, and volatility risks using VaR, PaR, stress tests, and scenario analysis.
  • Develop and maintain risk models for trading portfolios and structured products (e.g., tolling).
  • Develop, improve, and implement simulation and backtesting models to quantitatively assess revenue potential of flexible assets (batteries, EV fleets) in energy markets.
  • Test and validate new strategies and provide recommendations to senior management.

Who you are

  • Background in a quantitative field such as Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or related disciplines.
  • Experience in risk management, quantitative analysis, or trading roles—preferably in energy, banking, financial services, or commodities sectors.
  • Understanding of risk measurement techniques (VaR, PaR, stress testing, scenario analysis), portfolio modeling, and asset optimization.
  • Knowledge of derivatives, structured products, and trading strategies (hedging, tolling contracts).
  • Strong analytical skills, precision in data analysis, and ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in Python or SQL; familiarity with backtesting and model validation is a plus.
  • Fluent in English; German or other languages are a plus.
