In the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Safety Engineering at the University of Wuppertal,

in the Department of Civil Protection, Disaster Relief and Property Security,

is expected to start on 01.09.2025, limited until 31.08.2027 (subject to final funding approval),

a position as

Research assistant

with 100 % of the collectively agreed working hours

Professional And Personal Recruitment Requirements

• Completed scientific university degree (Master's or comparable) in security technology, sociology (with a focus on quantitative methods), data science, psychology, computer science or related subjects
• Ideally initial experience in the field of psychosocial emergency care (PSNV) or willingness to familiarize yourself with the subject area in depth
• Previous knowledge of programming with Python (in particular the use and linking of existing libraries) or willingness to undertake independent further training in this area
• Strong organizational skills and a reliable, independent way of working
• High team orientation, especially in interdisciplinary contexts
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as a confident manner in networks and towards various stakeholders
• Motivation to make your own research results visible and present them
• Very good written and spoken German skills
• Willingness to travel nationally and internationally and to present research results at specialist events
• Confident handling of MS Office applications
• Commitment, initiative, open-mindedness and ability to work in a team
  
  

Tasks And Requirements

• Active participation in an interdisciplinary research project on the networking of actors in psychosocial crisis management
• Conception, implementation and evaluation of empirical studies with a quantitative focus
• Co-development of digital tools, in particular through programming work in the area of data-processing libraries
• Presentation of research results at national and international conferences
• Publication of research results in renowned, English-language journals
• Professional exchange with cooperation partners and development and maintenance of networks
• Active participation in knowledge transfer within and outside the project
  
  

This is a qualification position within the meaning of the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (WissZeitVG), which can be filled to promote the following scientific qualification: Acquisition of professional experience in the implementation of a BMBF project. The position is initially limited for the duration of the research project. However, further employment is sought.

The duration of the employment contract will be appropriate to the desired scientific qualification.
