As Health and Safety Manager / SuM H&S Lead, you will be responsible for the H&S function related to:

• Before Startup: ensuring the health and safety of all project personnel, implementing safety policies, and promoting a safety culture within the project.
• After Startup: ensuring preventive and corrective maintenance on-site, maximizing production uptime, and managing the department's budget and team.

You will report to the Plant Manager / SuM Manager and collaborate closely with the SuM Team, Regional and Global Support Teams, and Engineering Team.

Responsibilities :

Before Startup :

• Provide expert guidance on design specifications, equipment selection, and installation requirements.
• Ensure the readiness checklist is comprehensive, covering activities for system creation similar to other McCain plants.
• Develop and implement safety policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with project management, operations, procurement, and vendors during design reviews to ensure safety and ergonomic standards.
• Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure compliance with safety standards, codes, and best practices.
• Conduct inspections and coordinate safety culture initiatives.
• Drive continuous improvement to build the Plant of the Future.

Training and Development :

• Provide safety training and mentorship.
• Build and manage the Safety organization according to McCain standards.

After Startup :

• Support plant departments in managing health and safety.
• Design, implement, and monitor safety programs.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and proper reporting.
• Update safety and risk management plans.
• Monitor safety KPIs and participate in safety audits and meetings.

Key Shared Accountabilities :

• Define regional safety strategies in coordination with the Safety Director.
• Ensure safety design compliance for new investments.
• Collaborate with maintenance and quality teams on safety and food defense programs.

Requirements :

• Bachelor's degree in H&S or related fields (engineering, quality, training, etc.).
• Minimum 4-5 years of H&S experience, including regional or corporate level experience.
• Fluency in German and English; additional languages like French or Dutch are a plus.
• Experience in establishing manufacturing facilities and safety management.
• Knowledge of safety standards such as ISO 45001, Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, and food industry safety requirements.
