Job Description: AI Processor Design Engineer

DigitalTwin Technology GmbH is at the forefront of next-generation AI hardware innovation. We are seeking a highly skilled AI Processor Design Engineer with strong Instruction Set Architecture (ISA) expertise to join our team. If you are passionate about AI hardware, microarchitecture, and custom processor design, this is your opportunity to make a significant impact.

Responsibilities

  1. Architect, design, and optimize AI-specific processor cores and accelerators.
  2. Develop and extend Instruction Set Architecture (ISA) for AI workloads.
  3. Work on microarchitecture design, including pipelines, vector units, and memory hierarchies.
  4. Optimize AI-specific data paths, execution units, and parallel processing architectures.
  5. Conduct performance modeling, simulation, and benchmarking.
  6. Evaluate trade-offs in power, performance, and area (PPA). Participate in RTL design and verification processes.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of ISAs (e.g., RISC-V, ARM, x86, or custom AI ISAs)
  • Experience with processor microarchitecture and hardware design
  • Proficiency in Verilog, VHDL, or SystemVerilog for RTL design
  • Hands-on experience with AI/ML workloads and accelerators (e.g., Tensor cores, NPUs, TPUs, or GPUs)
  • Familiarity with performance modeling and simulation tools
  • Understanding of memory systems, caching, and power optimization techniques
  • Experience with ASIC or FPGA development is a plus

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with RISC-V custom ISA extensions for AI acceleration
  • Knowledge of low-power design techniques
  • Hands-on experience with EDA tools for synthesis, timing analysis, and verification
  • Familiarity with high-level synthesis (HLS) and AI compiler stacks
