SUMMARY
As a Microbiologist, you will perform biological analyses of drinking water, food, bottled water, insect vectors, and surveillance samples for bacteriological, viral, and rickettsial contamination for the Public Health Command Europe (PHCE), Landstuhl, Germany.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a graduate of a post-secondary vocational/tradeschool or hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Microbiology or related sciences.
- Language Requirement: Ability to read, speak, and write English.
- A minimum of five years of laboratory experience.
- Experience with biological methodologies for food analyses.
- Experience with nucleic acid extraction and PCR analysis.
- Knowledge of public health policies, regulations, and biological/laboratory practices.
- Ability to identify hazards during analyses and troubleshoot methods.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review properties and risk categories of samples according to guidelines and regulations.
- Analyze samples using techniques such as classical microbiology, nucleic acid extraction, PCR, genome sequencing, ELISA, scintillation counters, and other rapid methods.
- Recommend and implement method modifications and train new analysts.
- Review analytical data for accuracy and report using electronic systems.
Note: This opportunity is limited to individuals located near the performance site in Germany, preferably associated with the US Military under SOFA status, and/or Local Nationals.
