Munich-based OroraTech is developing a constellation of nanosatellites with thermal infrared cameras for automated wildfire detection, severe weather warnings, and many other applications. After our FOREST1 mission (launched in Jan. 2022) and FOREST2 (launched in June 2023), the next step is to launch FOREST3 (October 2024) and the first constellation plane of 8 systems (early 2025).

We are looking for talented professionals to support us with the second constellation plane based on our in-house developed platform FOREST3. Your tasks will include the integration and testing of our cameras and spacecraft, assembling structure parts, electronics, PCBs, and optical components. You will join a highly motivated and enthusiastic team of experts in mechanical, optics, electronics, spacecraft, and software engineering.

What you'll be doing

  1. As an Assembly and Integration Technician, you will:
  2. Assemble various satellite components, including structural elements, electronics, and subsystems, following detailed specifications and procedures.
  3. Identify and resolve problems encountered during integration, perform thorough inspections, quality assurance checks, and initial troubleshooting.
  4. Maintain detailed records of assembly processes, inspections, test results, and improvements made during integration to ensure quality control and regulatory compliance.
  5. Ensure order and safe working practices in the cleanroom and promote a clean and organized workspace.
  6. Work closely with engineers and other technicians to understand system requirements and provide feedback on AIT processes and procedures, incorporating lessons learned into future projects.
  7. Demonstrate significant hands-on experience in assembling complex and/or precise mechanical systems.
  8. Exhibit strong craftsmanship to ensure quality and reliability, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and CAD models effectively.
  9. Have a proven understanding of electronics and electrical systems, including circuits, wiring, and components. Experience in soldering and harnessing is a plus.
  10. Experience with running Python scripts on Linux systems is a plus.
  11. Apply strong analytical skills to anticipate problems and develop solutions, including diagnosing and resolving issues during integration campaigns.
  12. Maintain an organized workflow while managing multiple tasks efficiently.
  13. Communicate effectively in English; German is a plus.
  14. Work effectively both independently and as part of a highly collaborative team.
  15. Follow safety practices for handling sensitive equipment in laboratory settings, including familiarity with cleanroom standards and ESD precautions.
