ADI is seeking an experienced lawyer to serve as Senior Counsel based in Munich, Germany, supporting our business in Germany and throughout the EMEA region. This role will report directly to the Regional General Counsel in Ireland, serving as a key Legal and Risk Optimization (“LRO”) business partner to ADI’s in-region business leaders in Germany and across EMEA. This role will be the first ADI lawyer based in Germany but will stay highly connected to other members of our EMEA LRO team based in Ireland and Belgium.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The ideal candidate will gain an in-depth understanding of ADI’s business, its risks and opportunities, and be capable of advising the company and its senior leadership regarding the same on a regular basis. The ideal candidate will also have the depth and breadth of skills and experience needed to have primary responsibility over the following matters:

  1. Serve as key business partner to the business to identify and mitigate legal risks and provide legal and regulatory advice on a broad range of issues affecting ADI’s business including corporate transactions, finance and tax transactions, entity maintenance matters, commercial and procurement support, employment matters, compliance with policies, among others.
  2. Serve as an accountable, primary LRO business partner to our leaders, providing actionable advice that can be swiftly incorporated into risk-based, strategic decisions.
  3. Perform special projects and support continuous improvement of LRO department standard work, knowledge management, and processes.
  4. Provide timely and accurate interpretations of the various laws and regulations affecting the company’s business in Germany and throughout EMEA to senior leadership and operating personnel; keeping them apprised of the types of actions that require consideration and providing internal guidance regarding potential legal and risk issues.
  5. Keep members of the LRO leadership team apprised of in-region activities, as well as ongoing and emerging legal, regulatory and risk topics.
  6. Craft and review legal strategy in response to any litigation, in partnership with ADI’s Dispute Resolution lead and appropriate ADI subject area experts.
  7. Manage and assist internal clients with resolving legal and risk issues in a manner consistent with enterprise business philosophy, values and strategy, and in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  8. Provide in-region support related to the protection of ADI’s intellectual property, including support for local patent, copyright and other intellectual property registrations as requested by our worldwide IP team.
  9. Supervise and manage external legal counsel supporting legal projects.
  10. Participate as needed in local or regional industry and/or government relations activities in support of legal and risk optimization objectives, coordinating closely with our Global Government Affairs & Trade team.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Qualified to practice law in Germany with outstanding educational and professional qualifications.
  2. Minimum 7 years post-qualification experience from a top tier law firm, and ideally also an in-house position at a multinational company.
  3. Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as with internal and external clients.
  4. Experience working in a face-paced environment, with a history of advising in real-time in meetings, including to executive leadership teams, providing accurate guidance and pragmatic solutions.
  5. Experience considering laws that may impact business across several jurisdictions; for example Germany as well as the EU level and US.
  6. Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion) and planning skills.
  7. Professional fluency in both English and German required; proficiency in additional European languages is a plus.
  8. Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, and reasoning) and executive presence.
  9. Ability to travel, as needed, both within EMEA region and internationally (US).
  10. High degree of systems proficiency (including MS Office Suite, Outlook and Internet applications).

International relocation is not provided by ADI for this position.
