Your Profile

We are looking for a candidate with a degree in engineering and a strong aptitude for scientific work, demonstrated by a qualified doctorate. The successful applicant is expected to represent the fields of fluid mechanics, fluid machinery, and computational fluid dynamics in both teaching and applied research. Relevant professional experience in several of the following areas is expected:

• Fluid mechanics
• Fluid machinery
• Flow simulation (CFD)
• Flow measurement technology

The subject areas are to be covered in both teaching and applied research. In this context, a teaching and research concept (maximum length: 2 pages) must be included with the application documents. Very good teaching skills are taken for granted, as is the willingness to engage in collaboration with our international partner universities and to offer courses in English.
We also expect active involvement in teaching foundational subjects and, where appropriate, in related disciplines.

This professorship includes responsibility for managing the new laboratories for fluid mechanics and fluid machinery, located in the state-of-the-art laboratory complex at Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences. The further development of these laboratories and their use for research and development activities is expressly encouraged. Experience in optical measurement techniques is considered an advantage. Furthermore, the laboratories are to be expanded for use in teaching and continuing education programmes.

We expect the applicant to integrate well into the existing team both professionally and personally, to be involved in the academic self-administration of our university and to enjoy imparting knowledge from their own professional experience to students.

The university has a large number of co-operations with universities and research institutions such as Max Planck and Fraunhofer Institutes and companies, which we would like to intensify and expand.
Active participation in the university's research activities is desired. In this context, we strive to increase the amount of third-party funding and the number of co-operative doctorates.
We advocate a supervision concept that requires a high presence of teaching staff at the university location.

German language skills (at least level C1) and English language skills are required. Teaching language ist mainly German.

The hiring requirements for professors are regulated in Sec 49 of the Higher Education Act of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate.

We expressly welcome applications from all age groups and independent of gender identify, disability, ethnic background, religion, ideology, sexual orientation or identity.
