Job Description: Buyer at SMS group S.p.A.

SMS group S.p.A., part of the German group SMS, is a leading manufacturer of plant and machinery in the steelmaking and non-ferrous materials industry, with approximately 14,400 employees worldwide. The Italian branch, based in Tarcento (Udine), San Donato Milanese (Milan), and Genoa, employs over 500 professionals and specializes in producing innovative, turn-key plants such as hot and cold rolling mills, process lines, reheating furnaces, heat treatment lines, meltshops, and continuous casting machines.

We are seeking a Buyer to join our Global Support Function Supply Chain Management within SCX Supply Chain Service Solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

1. Ensuring the procurement of machines, materials, and services from qualified suppliers under the most advantageous conditions, adhering to technical specifications, costs, and delivery timelines.
2. Conducting market research for various materials and services, identifying new sourcing options and reporting them to relevant company functions.
3. Processing purchase orders from approval to dispatch, monitoring progress, and ensuring contractual compliance through follow-up activities.
4. Managing litigation relations with suppliers.
5. Participating in qualification visits for new suppliers.

Qualifications:

• An engineering degree or a high school diploma in technical subjects.
• Previous experience in engineering or purchasing departments within engineering companies.
• Knowledge of SAP management software is preferred but not essential.
• Excellent command of the English language.
