Job description
We are working with a leading European trading organisation to appoint a Senior Proprietary Trader to join their high-performing team in Germany. This role offers significant autonomy, direct access to capital, and the opportunity to run a book across power, gas, and related commodities in a fast-moving, commercially driven environment.
The firm is scaling its trading capabilities and is looking for experienced talent with a consistent track record of generating returns, a strong understanding of market fundamentals, and the discipline to thrive in a risk-managed setup.
Key Responsibilities:
Independently manage a proprietary trading book focused on European power, gas, emissions, or related commodities.
Develop and execute trading strategies based on fundamental analysis, market structure, and technical signals.
Engage closely with analytics, tech, and data teams to improve modelling, tooling, and decision-making infrastructure.
Monitor regulatory and policy developments impacting the markets and adjust risk accordingly.
Produce regular reporting on risk, PnL, and strategy rationale to senior stakeholders.
Contribute to broader team performance through collaboration and idea-sharing.
Candidate Profile:
5–10+ years of experience in proprietary trading with a strong and demonstrable PnL history.
Expertise in short-term or directional strategies in power, gas, emissions, or cross-commodity markets.
Technically adept — comfortable working with Python, VBA, or similar tools to support data-driven trading.
Deep knowledge of European market dynamics, including price formation, grid operations, and cross-border flows.
Entrepreneurial mindset with a structured approach to risk-taking and trade execution.
Fluent in English; German skills are a plus but not essential.
Why Apply?
Work within a dynamic and well-capitalised trading environment with strong infrastructure and tech support.
Run your own risk with a clear mandate and minimal internal constraints.
Collaborate with some of the sharpest minds in European energy trading.
Be based in Germany, a key hub for continental energy markets and innovation.
