Your research activities will focus on novel approaches and methods for quantum computers with trapped ions. Your tasks include:

  • Responsible planning, simulation, and construction of innovative experimental apparatuses
  • Preparing and carrying out experiments with trapped ions, data analysis, and publishing scientific results
  • Guidance of other scientists in the team
  • Cooperation with national and international research partners and third-party funding agencies

Your profile:

  • University degree in physics
  • Doctorate in physics
  • Sound knowledge of quantum mechanics
  • High interest, exceptional commitment, initiative, and strong ability to work in an interdisciplinary team are essential
  • International publications and participation in academic exchange (conferences, reviews, research reports, etc.)
  • Experience in areas such as experimental quantum optics with atoms, molecules, or solid-state systems, quantum information processing, laser spectroscopy and cooling, microwave technology, laser technology, optics, vacuum technology, control electronics, and computer control of experiments is desired
  • Very good knowledge of English

Our range of services:

  • Promotion of scientific or artistic qualification according to the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (e.g., habilitation)
