Job Description:

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

• The Senior Manager Tax is responsible for achieving substantial tax savings at the corporate level by supporting and governing the tax function (both internal and external) within the EUROPE Region, ensuring the timely and correct handling of all tax matters across the region's countries.
• Supervise the execution of tax compliance and support the Regional Tax lead in developing strategies across all functions and brands for the Europe Countries.
• Assist the Regional Tax lead in managing the effective tax rate for the Europe Countries through professional tax planning, strategic tax advisory, and effective tax risk management, particularly concerning local tax audits of adidas companies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Overall responsibility for local tax controlling, strategic planning, and compliance with local tax laws and adidas' internal policies.
• Provide strategic advice on designing tax-efficient structures within local operating units, significantly impacting adidas’ local P&L.
• Develop, communicate, and oversee the implementation of global/regional tax strategies and policies across Europe Countries.
• Lead and manage working groups consisting of internal staff and external resources in the Europe Countries, either on a permanent or project basis.
• Manage major tax audits in the Europe Countries, guiding audit defense strategies, negotiating with tax authorities, and evaluating settlement options.
• Plan and execute effective tax risk management, including risk reporting, exposure assessment, provisioning, and risk minimization.
• Participate in major decisions within the Europe Countries, such as contracts and initiatives.
• Review compliance with global strategies, policies, and national regulations in the Europe Countries.
• Assess the impact of changes in international (OECD, EU) and domestic laws on adidas' tax position.
• Guide finance directors and tax professionals during tax audits.
• Align local practices with legal requirements to minimize tax exposure.
• Optimize adidas’ position concerning transfer pricing, VAT, corporate tax, wage tax, and customs valuation.
• Maintain high-level interfaces with executive management regularly.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong technical knowledge of international, especially German, tax regulations in Europe, including tax declaration requirements, and ability to manage professionals and handle tax audits.
• Operational credibility and understanding of business interests to foster trustful partnerships beyond tax issues.
• Professional communication and presentation skills.
• Excellent negotiation skills internally and externally.
• Experience with corporate accounting and reporting systems; SAP knowledge is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in finance, economics, or taxation; professional qualification preferred. Tax advisor exam is a plus.
• 5-8 years of experience in a multinational group or Big4 accounting firm.
