Job Description Summary

For Grid Solutions, Offshore HVDC represents a key differentiating technology and a central focus for the business, particularly in Europe where Transmission System Operators have very ambitious renewable energy targets. In that context, and for Germany, Grid Solutions is partnering with TenneT, which plans to invest more than $30B by 2030 in deploying new HVDC converter stations to bring Offshore Wind energy into Germany and the Netherlands.

In this context, Grid Solutions is looking for a Project Manager who will oversee the packages related to Spare Parts & Customer Training as part of a portfolio of several mega HVDC projects in Germany (contracts value > $1B).

Job Description

Major Responsibilities in detail:

  1. Spare parts:
  2. Oversee and manage all aspects of spare parts inventory, procurement, and distribution within the project portfolio. Ensure timely availability of spare parts to meet customer requirements and support Reliability, Availability & Maintenance periods. Develop a comprehensive strategy from spare parts list definition to hand-over.
  3. Coordinate with RAM team and gather all relevant documents/information.
  4. Prepare an overarching spare parts list according to contract requirements, including for commissioning and operation phases.
  5. Coordinate with sourcing/procurement to define required spare parts for each purchase order.
  6. Prepare RFQs and follow up until handover to customer, including clarifications on packing, delivery, and customs clearance.
  7. Lead the handover procedure to the customer.
  8. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders across GE units and suppliers, resolving issues and conflicting requirements promptly.
  9. Oversee day-to-day operations of the spare parts store, ensuring smooth functioning.
  10. Develop and implement inventory management strategies to optimize stock levels and minimize shortages.
  11. Collaborate with suppliers and vendors for timely stock replenishment and negotiate favorable terms.
  12. Ensure safety regulations and company policies are followed, maintaining a secure environment.

  2. Design, implement, and oversee customer training programs. Collaborate with various departments to identify training needs, develop curricula, and ensure effective delivery aligned with contractual obligations.

  2. Provide project management support for related packages such as storage, customs, and logistics as needed.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college, preferably technical.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in project management, preferably in T&D, Power, or Renewable Energy industries.
  • Language: English (mandatory); German (not mandatory).
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Results-oriented with the ability to meet targets.
  • Adaptability to fast-paced and changing environments.
  • Financial acumen for budgeting and expense control.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Ability and interest to analyze issues deeply; mastery of MS Office tools (e.g., Excel) is required.
  • Excellent coordination, cooperation skills, and team orientation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; German is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Dedicated to renewable energy, comfortable working in a dynamic, international team. You should be structured, analytical, self-driven, and stakeholder-oriented.
  • Willingness and ability to travel (20%).
