Our IBM Tech Sales Accelerator Program is designed for ambitious graduates, offering hands-on training, mentorship, and real-world experience within IBM Technical Sales. Over 12-24 months, you will work in Client Engineering, gaining critical skills before transitioning into your next career step as Automation Technical Sales Engineer.
Your Role And Responsibilities
As an Automation Technical Sales Engineer, you'll work closely with clients to develop relationships, understand their needs, earn their trust, and demonstrate how IBM's industry-leading solutions can solve their problems while delivering value. Your primary responsibilities include:
- Supporting the sales process by demonstrating our product portfolio, designing solutions, and running proof of concepts and pilots.
- Working with existing clients to ensure proper use of technology and informing them about product updates.
- Identifying new business opportunities within existing and new clients.
During your trainee phase, you'll start as a Platform Engineer in Client Engineering, developing trusted relationships, working with clients and colleagues to shape their technology landscape, creating pilots, and contributing to IBM’s growth and innovation. You will combine your technical education with consultative sales practices to accelerate enterprise success through Automation and Data & AI solutions.
Your responsibilities include:
- Pilot Development: Developing pilots to validate solutions, collaborating with development teams, and following IBM's Pilot Engineering Method to address business challenges with IBM hybrid cloud and AI technology.
- Collaboration and Project Management: Working with cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery and communicating project status to stakeholders.
- Customer Engagement and Support: Acting as a technical contact for customers, addressing questions, and supporting deployment and scaling of solutions.
- Industry Trends and Innovation: Staying updated on latest technologies and evaluating their impact on solutions.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- Completed technical degree (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems) within the last 3 years.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in English and German.
- Hands-on experience with cloud and automation technologies, virtualized platforms, and automation workflows.
- Experience in customer-facing technical solutions across cloud architectures.
- Understanding of agile practices and proficiency in at least one cloud-native programming language (Java, Python, etc.).
Preferred Technical and Professional Experience
- First work experience in IT or technical sales.
- Knowledge in IT Automation (AIOps, Cloud Cost Management, Observability), infrastructure automation (HashiCorp, RedHat), and Application Modernization & Integration (DevOps, Kafka, APIs, Containers). Training on IBM's Automation offerings will be provided.
