The School VI of Medicine and Health Sciences comprises the fields of human medicine, medical physics and acoustics, neurosciences, psychology, and health services research. Together with four regional hospitals, School VI forms the University Medicine Oldenburg. There are also close cooperation ties with the University Medicine of the University of Groningen.

Position: Research Associate (m/f/d)

E13 TV-L, 100%

This position is to be filled as soon as possible for a limited period until 31.12.2025. The position is suitable for part-time work.

The role is funded by the cluster of excellence "Hearing4All" (https://hearing4all.de/en/), which is supported by the German Research Foundation (DFG). The Department of Medical Physics and Acoustics offers an international scientific environment and access to world-class research facilities (https://uol.de/en/mediphysics-acoustics).

Tasks include:

The purpose of the position is to connect the Dietz lab to one or two research threads of "Hearing4All" (see https://hearing4all.de/en/research), ideally through collaborative research within the cluster. Multiple possibilities exist, allowing the auditory-model-centered research program to be tailored to the strengths and interests of the successful applicant. One option is combining the group's binaural model with a deep neural network back-end. The Dietz lab is involved in improving code and data sharing to facilitate interoperable auditory research. Any experience or ambition in this respect is highly welcome.

Required qualifications:

  • Academic university degree (Master or equivalent) in hearing technology, electrical engineering, physics, neuroscience, or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated system thinking in a scientific context
  • Expertise in either computational audiology or basic hearing research
  • Programming proficiency in Matlab or Python
