At the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Institute of Biology, Chair of Plant Metabolic Physiology, subject to allocation of funds, we are filling the following position as of 01.10.2025 on a temporary basis for the duration of the project ending on 30.09.2026:

Research Assistant (m/f/d) - Plant Physiology

THESE ARE YOUR TASKS:

The position holder (f/m/d) is expected to develop a doctoral research project in the field of molecular plant sciences. For this purpose, transgenic plants (Arabidopsis thaliana and barley) are to be generated and extensively characterized using molecular biology techniques (DNA, RNA, proteins, metabolites) and physiological analyses (phenotypic studies, stress resilience, photosynthesis measurements)

THIS MAKES YOU A GOOD FIT:

  • completed academic university degree, or close to completion (Master’s or equivalent), in Biology with a focus on photosynthetic organisms
  • knowledge of molecular biology techniques for studying organisms is expected; experience with transgenic organisms as well as physiological characterization of photosynthetic organisms (e.g., photosynthesis measurements) is desirable
  • fluent written and spoken English and basic German skills or the willingness to learn them quickly
