Job Description

Join ZEISS as a Materials Engineer for Cleanliness at our Zurich location, contributing to the development and manufacturing of semiconductor lithography equipment. You will be part of the R&D department within the 'Mechanical Design' team, focusing on highly precise mechatronic systems for optical movements in ultra-clean environments.

Your responsibilities include:

  1. Serving as the main contact for material-specific issues related to selection, cleanability, contamination control, storage, and failure modes.
  2. Optimizing the manufacturing process concerning cleanliness compliance and materials reliability.
  3. Ensuring and improving cleanliness and contamination control in cleanrooms and at supplier sites, including qualification, training, inspections, and analysis.
  4. Collaborating with project stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks related to materials and cleanliness.
  5. Troubleshooting non-conformities, conducting root cause analysis, risk assessments, and implementing corrective actions.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Materials Science or a related field; PhD preferred.
  • Experience in metallurgy, electroless nickel-phosphorus plating, corrosion and hydrogen embrittlement protection, or flexible electronics.
  • Experience in industries with high cleanliness standards (e.g., semiconductors, pharma) and familiarity with ZEISS/ASML specifications is advantageous.
  • Willingness to work on-site in cleanrooms 80% of the time.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain principles is desirable.
  • Proficiency in English (C1) and German (B2).
