Warehouse Management System Solution Architect

Position: WMS Solution Architect

Type: Contract (Hybrid) – 3 Days onsite / week

Location: Berlin, Germany

German speaking is mandatory for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end solution architecture and design for Blue Yonder WMS 2021+ implementations, ensuring alignment with client business objectives, functional requirements, and Infosys technical standards.
  • Develop detailed solution design documents, including process flows, data models, integration mappings (e.g., APIs, EDI), security considerations, and configuration specifications.
  • Evaluate and recommend best practices for Blue Yonder WMS configuration and customization, aiming for optimal performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Design resilient and adaptable solutions capable of accommodating future growth, changing business needs, and regulatory updates.
  • Ensure WMS architecture complies with healthcare industry regulations (e.g., FDA, HIPAA, GxP), data privacy mandates, and client security policies.
  • Business Requirements Analysis & Solutioning:
  • Collaborate with client stakeholders (e.g., supply chain, logistics, operations, quality assurance) to gather, analyze, and document detailed functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Lead client workshops and facilitated sessions to elicit requirements and validate proposed solutions, ensuring a clear understanding of business needs and pain points.
  • Translate business requirements into clear, concise, and technically feasible specifications that can be effectively implemented by the project team.
  • Identify potential gaps between client needs and standard Blue Yonder WMS functionality and propose well-reasoned solutions, including customizations when necessary.
  • Technical Implementation & Oversight:
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and oversight to the Blue Yonder WMS implementation team, including Infosys developers, consultants, and testing resources, ensuring adherence to best practices and project standards.
  • Collaborate with technical resources to configure, customize, test, and validate the WMS system, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Work closely with the integration team to ensure seamless and reliable connectivity between Blue Yonder WMS and other relevant enterprise systems (e.g., ERP, TMS, MES, clinical systems).
  • Actively participate in the resolution of technical issues and challenges during the implementation process, driving problem-solving and effective mitigation strategies.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing cycles (including performance and user acceptance testing), and system deployment activities, ensuring that solutions meet requirements and performance criteria.
  • Healthcare Domain Expertise (preferred, not mandatory though):
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of healthcare distribution processes, including pharmaceutical handling, cold chain management, serialization, controlled substance management, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Ensure that the WMS solution addresses specific healthcare industry requirements, such as traceability, lot control, expiration date management, recall procedures, temperature monitoring, and adherence to GxP principles.
  • Maintain current awareness of evolving industry trends and regulatory updates related to healthcare distribution logistics, providing subject matter expertise.
  • Propose and implement innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency, improve patient safety, and ensure stringent regulatory compliance in the healthcare supply chain.
  • Serve as a key technical point of contact and subject matter expert for the Blue Yonder WMS implementation project, both internally within Infosys and with client stakeholders.
  • Contribute to project planning, progress tracking, risk management, and change management activities.
  • Communicate technical concepts, solution designs, and implementation progress effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences, using clear and concise language and visualizations.
  • Collaborate effectively with project stakeholders, including business users, IT teams, and executive leadership, to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and professional development.
  • Post-Implementation Support:
  • Provide technical support and guidance during the initial post-go-live phase, working closely with client support teams to resolve production issues and optimize system performance.
  • Collaborate on knowledge transfer to client support teams and ensure adequate documentation of the deployed solution.
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of system upgrades and enhancements post-implementation, as needed.
  • Provide expertise on system optimization strategies and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum 10-13+ years of professional experience in designing, implementing, and supporting warehouse management systems, with a strong focus on Blue Yonder WMS (formerly JDA WMS).
  • Deep functional and technical understanding of the Blue Yonder WMS architecture, data model, and core modules, including inbound, outbound, inventory management, labor management, and reporting.
  • Extensive experience in configuring, customizing, and extending Blue Yonder WMS to meet complex and unique business requirements.
  • Proven experience in integrating Blue Yonder WMS with various enterprise systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, various TMS and WCS/WES/MES systems) using different integration methods (APIs, web services, middleware) is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of relational database concepts (SQL) and data modeling.
  • Proficiency in scripting and programming languages (e.g., MOCA, Groovy and SQL) is highly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), agile methodologies, and project management principles.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a global team, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Experience working in a regulated industry (e.g., healthcare, pharmaceuticals, life sciences) is preferred.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • Prior experience implementing Blue Yonder WMS in the healthcare distribution industry, especially within pharmaceutical or medical device distribution.
  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare regulations (e.g., FDA, HIPAA, GxP), data privacy requirements, and compliance standards related to supply chain and logistics.
  • Experience with Blue Yonder WMS upgrades, migrations, and performance optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with Blue Yonder reporting and analytics tools (e.g., BI, Reporting Studio).
  • Familiarity with supply chain planning and optimization concepts.
  • Experience with cloud-based deployment of Blue Yonder WMS.
  • Experience working in a consulting environment.
