Job Description:
Vision and intuition vs. testing and validating
Remember when software still felt magical? Good software used to be an experience. It used to radically change how we live and work. It made us feel like we lived in the future.
Today, software is everywhere. But truly great software has become incredibly rare—especially in the real estate industry. Much of the software from the late 90s has barely been updated. Many companies in this space profit from seminars on how to use their software, creating an incentive to make software more complicated to sell more seminars.
At Buena, we are returning to the essentials that lead to category-defining companies: courageous, first-principled, visionary products. We aim to move away from an incremental testing culture that gets stuck on local maxima.
Technical Stack & Requirements
At Buena, we work with a modern tech stack, emphasizing expertise in cutting-edge tools and practices. We seek a curious, well-rounded professional with solid experience in building large-scale applications and an open-minded approach to software development. As we grow rapidly, you’ll influence key decisions shaping Buena’s future, unlocking innovation and driving our next growth phase.
Basic Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience as a Product Engineer or Software Engineer building and shipping complex, high-quality web applications.
- Strong proficiency in backend development with Node.js and GraphQL, including designing scalable APIs.
- Strong product intuition and experience collaborating with design and product teams to deliver user-centric solutions.
- A deep understanding of UX/UI principles and the ability to translate complex workflows into intuitive experiences.
- Passion for end-to-end product development—from scoping and design to implementation and iteration.
- Experience in building products from scratch or significantly contributing to growing products.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with engineers, designers, and stakeholders.
What you’ll do
- Collaborate with product managers and designers to build beautiful, intuitive, and performant experiences for property management teams.
- Develop and own features end-to-end, from concept and design to development, testing, deployment, and iteration.
- Architect and maintain a scalable frontend and backend that grows with our product and user needs.
- Optimize performance to handle large datasets and complex workflows efficiently.
- Work with engineering peers to uphold a culture of technical excellence, ensuring maintainable and scalable code.
- Balance visionary product intuition with data-driven iteration.
- Push the boundaries of real estate technology, shaping the future of property management.
- Drive initiatives to enhance usability, performance, and developer experience.
- Contribute to the evolution of Buena’s design system for consistency and high-quality UI.
- Take ownership of the entire product experience, impacting thousands of property managers and tenants.
What we offer
- Competitive Compensation: Salary, equity, and employee-friendly terms.
- Generous Time Off: 5 weeks paid vacation, public holidays, and leave for life events.
