Job Description: Buyer at SMS group S.p.A.

SMS group S.p.A., part of the German SMS group, is a leading company in plant and machinery manufacturing for the steelmaking and non-ferrous materials industry, with approximately 14,400 employees worldwide. The Italian branch, located in Tarcento (Udine), San Donato Milanese (Milan), and Genoa, employs over 500 professionals and specializes in producing innovative, turnkey plants such as hot and cold rolling mills, process lines, reheating furnaces, heat treatment lines, meltshops, and continuous casting machines.

Our Global Support Function in Supply Chain Management within SCX Supply Chain Service Solutions is seeking to hire a Buyer.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

1. Ensuring procurement of machines, materials, and services from qualified suppliers under the most advantageous conditions, adhering to technical specifications, costs, and delivery schedules.
2. Conducting market research for various materials and services, identifying new alternative sources, and reporting findings to relevant company functions.
3. Processing purchase orders from approval to dispatch, monitoring progress, and ensuring compliance with contractual terms, including reminder activities.
4. Managing litigation relations with suppliers.
5. Participating in qualification visits for new suppliers.

Minimum requirements include:

• An engineering degree or a high school diploma in technical subjects.
• Previous experience in engineering or purchasing departments within engineering companies.
• Knowledge of SAP software is preferred but not essential.
• Proficiency in English language skills.
