The IDC Engineering team provides various services to support Alibaba's global business growth. The team collaborates with different project delivery teams, including procurement, TPM, and operations, working with external vendors to meet global business needs.

Job Description

1. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define project design criteria and develop Basis of Design.
2. Manage consultants through schematic design, design development, and construction documentation.
3. Oversee the design-build contractor to ensure project meets business and technical needs outlined in the BOD.
4. Support the construction process by responding to RFIs, issuing technical bulletins, reviewing submittals and shop drawings, conducting source inspections, and participating in commissioning.
5. Analyze and provide energy-efficient solutions to minimize power losses.
6. Develop detailed scripts for change management requests (CMRs).
7. Travel to data center sites for engineering studies, audits, startup testing, and commissioning as needed.
8. Review electrical critical system services with local data center operations teams.
9. Participate in root cause analysis of equipment failures or power outages.
10. Guide design consultants and contractors, and validate the quality of installed work.
11. Respond to emergencies on an as-needed basis.

Job Requirements

1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
2. At least 7 years of experience in building design and construction.
3. Knowledge of high voltage substation design and mission-critical power systems (data centers, PLC transfer controllers, generators, UPS, PDU, BMS).
4. Familiarity with industry standards, building codes, and safety standards (NFPA, UFC, UBC).
5. Experience in construction and cost estimation processes.
6. Cross-disciplinary knowledge of critical facility systems.
7. Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
8. Ability to provide solutions under pressure.
9. Proficiency with AutoCAD, Visio, Bluebeam, and SKM software.
10. Willingness to travel regionally and internationally (up to 30%).
11. Bilingual in Mandarin Chinese is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Electrical Professional Engineer registration.
2. Experience in data center or mission-critical design, construction, and operations.
