What You Will Do :

  1. Research in driver monitoring systems and driver well-being, including cognitive distraction, drowsiness, stress, impairment, and interventions.
  2. Identify research methods, data collection techniques, and analysis methods.
  3. Develop experimental paradigms to test hypotheses based on modern knowledge of physiology.
  4. Develop approaches to analyze behavior and physiological signals.
  5. Enhance data collection procedures to include relevant information for building analytic systems.
  6. Work with engineers to create experiments that induce stress, drowsiness, and cognitive distraction in a vehicle setting.
  7. Screen, scout, and evaluate the technology market and trends.
  8. Drive networking between Harman-X, start-ups, and academia to match interests and evaluate potential collaborations.
  9. Develop technologies that deliver breakthrough experiences and work with the broader team to build proof-of-concept/demonstration systems.
  10. Compile and organize findings in reports, graphs, charts, and diagrams. Write reports, white papers, conference publications, and patents to support Harman’s industry leadership.

What You Need :

  1. Minimum of a PhD in Neurophysiology, Physiology, Psychology, or a related discipline, plus five years of relevant academic or industry experience.
  2. Theoretical and practical understanding of Neurophysiology.
  3. At least 1 year in the IT industry and 5 years in research.
  4. Understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests, etc.
  5. Experience with data science toolkits like R, Weka, NumPy, MATLAB, etc.
  6. Experience with data visualization tools such as D3.js, GGplot, etc.
  7. Excellent applied statistics skills, including distributions, statistical testing, and regression.
  8. Experience with basic psychological and physiological research methods.
  9. Proficiency in scripting and programming, especially Python.
  10. Publications in leading scientific journals in Psychology, Physiology, or Neuroscience.
  11. Experience conducting basic and applied research in Psychology, Physiology, or Neuroscience.

What is Nice to Have :

  1. Experience in data labeling for machine learning.
  2. Experience working on research in a commercial environment.
