Software Engineer (Java) - (all genders)

As a Software Engineer in the Data and Process Engineering department, you are part of the central Zalando Technology Foundation (ZTF), which supports a variety of Zalando business areas. You contribute to designing and developing solutions that automate hundreds of Zalando processes. You will support different types of data and system integration developments. WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

1. Design and implement efficient transactional data integration solutions
2. Develop and maintain RESTful APIs to ensure seamless data exchange between applications and services
3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address system integration challenges
4. Optimize and troubleshoot system performance to ensure efficient and reliable operations in production environments

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

1. 3+ years hands-on experience in Java programming
2. In-depth knowledge of Spring framework, with additional experience in Spring Batch considered a plus
3. Proven experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) processes
4. Hands-on experience with Kafka or a similar distributed programming framework
5. Proficiency in working with databases, such as PostgreSQL, including experience in database design, optimization, and query performance tuning
6. Familiarity with AWS and Kubernetes (K8s) is considered an advantage
7. Strong expertise in unit testing and test-driven development
8. Familiarity with "infrastructure as code" best practices and tools
9. Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt to different contexts and audiences
10. Team player mentality with a willingness to share knowledge within and across teams
