Valmet - Service Engineer for Gas Chromatography Systems

Service Engineer

The Service Engineer is responsible for performing on-site field maintenance and demand service jobs for Valmet Maxum Process Gas Chromatographs. This includes preventive maintenance, start-up and commissioning of new analyzers, as well as corrective maintenance and troubleshooting. The role involves visiting customers in the Netherlands and occasionally in neighboring regions.

Responsibilities

  1. Startup, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of complex analytical systems.
  2. Selecting parts, drawings, and information needed to perform service jobs to ensure high system availability.
  3. Answering technical questions from customers, troubleshooting over the phone, providing solutions, and offering support when necessary.
  4. Providing guidance and support to fellow field service technicians, promoting teamwork and skill sharing.
  5. Providing hands-on training and instruction to customers and colleagues.
  6. Continuous skill development to stay current with product and technology advancements.
  7. Collaborating with Research and Development to communicate field issues or successes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, process, or chemical engineering.
  • At least 5 years of experience with Process Gas Chromatographs, Sample Conditioning Systems, and within the chemical and refining industries.
  • Extensive technical knowledge of process gas chromatographs, sample conditioning, system integration, alarm and safety systems, electrical wiring, digital networking, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining good customer relationships.
  • Fluent in German and English, both spoken and written.
